Concord, NH – The New Hampshire House Freedom Caucus (NHHFC) today blasted the House budget coming to the floor Thursday – one that would increase spending by over $1.5 billion more than the current budget. Additionally, this budget includes $417 million in new taxes.
“This budget is an affront to anyone who embraces economic sanity and New Hampshire’s low tax status. Those who votes for or support this budget has forfeited the right to call themselves fiscally responsible. This trip down the socialist primrose path is equally outrageous and destructive. It’s time to bring some adults back in the room to write a reality-based budget,” stated Rep. Scott Wallace, Danville, NH.
“As a member of the House Freedom Caucus that rose up to take down a bloated budget two years ago, I’m appalled to see an even more extravagant waste of taxpayer funds this year. The more rational budget that we ultimately passed that provide tax relief has been an unqualified success. What makes this year worse is the addition of $417 million in crushing tax hikes – that would effectively end the New Hampshire Advantage,” said Rep. John Burt, Goffstown.
“This House budget sends a clear message to innovators, entrepreneurs and job creators that they aren’t welcome in New Hampshire. After all the Legislature did the past two sessions to make our state more welcoming, this sudden reversal will surprise many who’ve worked to grow our economy. That’s why we’ll have a surprise ready for representatives Thursday morning, to show them the importance of preserving the New Hampshire Advantage,” added former Rep. JR Hoell, founding member of the New Hampshire House Freedom Caucus.
